DESCRIPTION:Spring is here\, and we are excited about the 7th gardening season of the NEEC. Our volunteers are very enthusiastic and eager to meet the new challenge of exceeding our 2021 produce record. \nAs in the last two years\, we will start working at the 94 Pine Street Community Garden at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. We have a lot of things to do in advance in our 16 associated community gardens and environmental projects. Let’s get started! \nARE YOU LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES? \nNEEC Community Gardens and Environmental Projects: \n\nSanctuary Demonstration Community Garden\, 40 South Fullerton Avenue\, Montclair\, NJ 07042.Basic regular tasks: a) Planting; b) Filling the rain barrel; c) Watering; d) Harvesting.\n\n\nOccasionally tasks: a) Adding soil to the beds; b) Adding compost; c) Weeding; d) Preparing the garden for the winter. Note: Filling the rain barrel\, needs to be coordinated with J. German\n\nCurrently Growing: Planting in progress \n\nMaster Gardeners opportunities to oversee the project and lead the volunteers – Twice a week for 1.5 hours – Two Master Gardeners can take one shift each.\n\n \n\nCrane Pak Demonstration Garden\, Glenridge Avenue\, Montclair\, NJ 07042. Basic regular tasks: a) Planting; b) Watering; and c) Harvesting.\n\n\nOccasionally tasks: a) Adding soil to the beds; b) Adding compost; c) Weeding; d) Preparing the garden for the winter. Basic regular tasks: a) Planting; b) Watering; and c) Harvesting; d) Monitoring the composting site; Occasionally tasks: a) Adding soil to the beds; b) Adding compost; c) Weeding; d) Preparing the garden for the winter. DESCRIPTION:The Montclair Eco-Fair is back! This is a community event that you will want to be part of. The Episcopal Church of St. James is partnering with the NEEC to host this event in their front yard. \nJoin local environmentalists and community activists in an outdoor event with environmental displays. \nCome and learn about gardening for pollinators and butterflies\, native plants\, edible landscapes\, community gardens\, and volunteer opportunities. Enjoy live music by local performers. \nParticipant groups: Bike and Walk Montclair; NJ Native Plant Society\, Essex County Chapter; Bonsal Wildlife Preserve Conservancy; Quiet Montclair\, Montclair\, Montclair Climate Action\, The Montclair Chapter of Citizen’s Climate Lobby\, Montclair Environmental Commission\, Momentum Solar Power\, Radio Free Radio\, Montclair League of Women Voters\, MOM’s Organic Market\, Montclair Backyard Wildlife Habitat\, NEEC Community Food Network\, Montclair Make Music Day\, Pedals for Progress\, Good Bottle Refill Shop\, DollyMoo\, Essex Ridge Apiaries\, MASN Coop\, Green Power Energy\, Northeast Pollinator Pathways\, and Save Soil Movement among other groups. \nLive Music!
