SUMMARY:Earth Day Celebration Week - April 17th-25th\, 2021 - Restore Our Earth
DESCRIPTION:The Northeast Earth Coalition (NEEC) invites you to join its 2021 Earth Day Celebration from April 17-24\, 2021\, for a week of events on the theme of restoring our planet. This year’s celebration will be a combination of virtual events and small gatherings due to the COVID crisis. \nParticipants can join from anywhere in New Jersey\, the country – or the world! You can meet virtually with regional community leaders and groups that will be sharing their environmental projects\, such as local food and community gardens\, eco-friendly gardening\, sustainable communities\, alternative transportation\, renewable energy\, clean air and water\, and climate change activism. \nJoin the NEEC to Celebrate! \nWe will kick off the celebration virtually via Zoom at 10AM on April 17th and will continue marking the occasion with events until April 24th. \nShare Your Project! \nWe invite you to submit to the NEEC a short (1-5 minutes) videoclip highlighting an environmental project you are working on\, either at home or at the community level. \nProjects might relate to wildlife habitat\, local food production\, energy conservation\, renewable energy\, pollinator gardens\, conserving water\, protecting waterways\, reducing waste\, environmental justice\, environmental activism\, sustainable transportation\, etc. – any action aimed at preserving and restoring the environment. \nAlthough the NEEC is based in New Jersey\, we are accepting projects from anywhere in the world. The NEEC will select clips to be shared online between April 17 and April 22. This is an excellent opportunity to highlight the work you are doing! \nThe deadline for video submissions is April 14. DESCRIPTION:Gardening from the Birds’ Perspective: When we garden\, we can help migrating and resident birds with a healthy backyard habitat\, especially important given the severe decline in songbirds. \nIn this workshop you will learn how to bring beautiful birds to your backyard by using native bushes and flowers and other tips for creating a bird habitat. \nSpeaker: Deb Ellis\, Essex County Master Gardener and environmentalist. She is also part of the founding team of the Montclair Wildlife Habitat Project. Deb Ellis is the chair of the New Jersey Native Plants Society\, Essex County Chapter. \n \n
