Join the NEEC for a virtual Earth Day Celebration!
From New Jersey and beyond, please join us virtually via Zoom at 10AM on April 18 for a kick-off celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. We will continue marking the occasion until April 22 by sharing videoclips of projects people are carrying out to protect and restore the Earth.
We invite you to submit to the NEEC a short (1-3 minute) videoclip highlighting an environmental project you are working on, either at home or at the community level. The climate crisis is the official theme of the Worldwide Earth Day Celebration, but we recognize that most local environmental projects address the climate crisis directly or indirectly. Projects might relate to wildlife habitat, local food production, energy conservation, renewable energy, pollinator gardens, conserving water, protecting waterways, reducing waste, environmental justice, environmental activism, sustainable transportation, etc. – any action aimed at preserving and restoring the environment.
Although the NEEC is based in New Jersey, we are interested in projects from anywhere in the world.
The NEEC will select clips to share online between April 18 and April 22.
This is an excellent opportunity to highlight the work you are doing and inspire others to take action.
The deadline for submissions is April 15. Please send your submission as an email attachment to Info@neearth.org
Earth Day 2020 theme: Climate Action
Every year the Earth Day Network, as organizers of the original Earth Day, selects an environmental priority to engage the global public.
The enormous challenges – but also the vast opportunities – of acting on climate change have distinguished the issue as the most pressing topic for the 50th anniversary year. At the end of 2020, nations will be expected to increase their national commitments to the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change, so the time is now for citizens to call for greater global ambition to tackle our climate crisis.
Climate change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-support systems that make our world habitable. Unless every country in the world steps up – and steps up with urgency and ambition – we are consigning current and future generations to a dangerous future.
Earth Day 2020 will be far more than a day. It must be a historic moment when citizens of the world rise up in a united call for the creativity, innovation, ambition, and bravery that we need to meet our climate crisis and seize the enormous opportunities of a zero-carbon future.
