SPEAKER: JOSE GERMAN-GOMEZ, FOUNDER & CEO OF THE NORTHEAST EARTH COALITION

Jose is well known as an environmental activist in northern New Jersey as well as an educator in sustainable & Eco-friendly communities and organic gardening. His lecture “Gardening for life” have been presented in many communities of central and north jersey as well as in Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

He is co-founder of the Montclair Backyard Habitat Project sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation, and is the founder of the Northeast Earth Coalition, Inc. He is also a former member of the Township of Montclair Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

He works has been covered by local media as well as the national magazines Bird Watch and Municipal. He is a blogger about environmental and urban farming issues and has a regular column “Gardening for Life” at the Montclair Local Newspaper. He is a certified Essex County Master Gardener and a Certified Rutgers Environmental Steward. In 2021, Jose was selected by the New Jersey Latino Index, as one the top ten most influential Latinos in New Jersey. Jose’s environmental and community work has been recognized by The Russ Berrie Make a Difference 2023 Award.

He holds an MBA from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. Jose is the former Vice President of Finance of Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey (CPNJ).  READ FULL BIOGRAPHY HERE

The NEEC is a Montclair, NJ based organization founded in 2016 and its programs are currently impacting 13 communities in Northern New Jersey. The organization since its foundation, has been promoting a holistic gardening approach that integrates the creation or protection of wildlife habitats, native plants, pollinator garden, composting and vegetable gardens.
